Transelectrica has received the visit of the friendship parliamentary group Sweden - Romania

Bucharest, May 23rd, 2011- The managerial team of Transelectrica has recived the visit of the delegation comprising representatives from the Parliament of the Kingdom of Sweden (Sweden ? Romania friendship parliamentary group). During such reunion the delegation members have discussed with Transelectrica?s representatives the stage of the Romania - Turkey submarine cable project, the prospects for the development of the Electricity Transmission Grid and the involvement of Swedish companies into Transelectrica s future projects, in the context of the European energy environment strategy.
In June 2009 Transelectrica and Co. Vattenfall Power Consultant AB of Sweden signed the service contract for the elaboration of the feasibility study, including the environmental one and the terms of reference for the Romania - Turkey submarine electric cable project (HVDC Link). The feasibility study amounted to 1.5 million Euros, of which 50% came from a grant from Sweden, 25% were financed by Co. Nuclearelectica and 25% by Transelectrica.
?In the first place allow me to express my satisfaction for the exemplary cooperation between Transelectrica and Swedish companies under many important projects, directly contributing to the rehabilitation and refurbishment of our transmission grid. Today?s discussions pointed out a potential enhancement of our cooperation for the further development of the Electricity Transmission Grid. The delegation of the Parliament from the Kingdom of Sweden assured us of the willingness of Swedish experts to participate together with Transelectrica?s experts to the implementation of energy infrastructure projects, which are among Romania?s priorities, has stated on this occasion the director general of Transelectrica, Mr. Horia Hahaianu. Transelectrica is Romania?s transmission and system operator that manages, operates, maintains, modernises and develops the transmission grid that comprises 78 transformer electric substations of about 35,000 MVA, and 9,028 km of overhead lines at 110, 220, 400 and 750 kV, under the management of 8 transmission branches.
