On May 18, 1895 Hermannstadter Elektrizitatswerke A. G. - the Society of the electric power plant of Sibiu- was set up. Soon after that, the Board decided to construct Sadu 1 electric power plant.
    The project included the construction of the plant along the Sadu river valley, 18 km far from Sibiu and also of the electricity transmission and distribution equipment.
    The produced electricity was transmitted to Sibiu and Cisnadie at 4500 V, trough two lines.
