In 1958 the Romanian Power System was created through the interconnection of the local subsystems.The regional enterprises were created in 1948 when all electricity producers became state owned companies.
    In Bucharest where the former "Gas and Electricity Society" became the "Bucharest Electricity Society" and later on it was renamed "Bucharest Regional Electricity Enterprise".
    In Cluj the existing "Gas and Electricity Society" will became in 1949 "Cluj Regional Electricity Enterprise". Similar regional companies were organised in other areas of Romania such as Brasov and Sibiu. Parallel to the reorganising the existing structures new regional entities were created such as "Bacau Electricity Enterprise" (1951).
