Bucharest, January 18th, 2011: Ion Ariton, minister of economy, commerce and business environment met on Monday, January 17th, with Stelian Alexandru Gal, director general of Transelectrica and with specialists of the Company?s executive team in the offices of the National Power Dispatcher
Minister Ariton and the Company?s managerial team reviewed the current situation and the prospects of Transelectrica SA as well as the investment plan for 2011, Transelectrica?s projects in the field of critical infrastructure protection and the implementation stage of remote control systems in the substations of Transelectrica. A particular attention has been paid as well to the programmes financing major infrastructure projects, to the implementation of national interest project with cross-border impact, but also to the integration of various renewable resources and their connection to the power transmission grid.
On this occasion the minister of economy, commerce and business environment visited the control room of the National Power Dispatcher, being introduced to the infrastructure and operation of the Romanian Power System.
I highly appreciate the activities of the National Power Dispatcher experts and I can assure the Romanian citizens the country?s Power System is operating under safe conditions, as Transelectrica is prepared to manage with a wide range of threats that can impact the optimum operation of the critical electric power infrastructure, stated minister Ariton. Transelectrica is the transmission and system operator of Romania that manages, operates, maintains, upgrades and develops the transmission grid comprising 78 transformer substations of about 35,000 MVA, as well as 9,028 km of overhead lines at 110 kV, 220 kV, 400 kV and 750 kV, managed by 8 transmission branches
