By 1939 the production and usage of electricity was spread all around Romania. At the end of 1939 Romania had 229 electricity generators out of which:
- 113 private companies and concessions
- 85 municipal service companies
- 10 public commercial authorities
- 14 joint ventures
- 7 state owed authorities
